A DAY AT CAMP RODEF SHALOM
Our exciting daily schedule has traditional camp activities such as art, drama, music, and sports, infused with new specialty areas including cooking, mad science, outdoor adventures, and dance!
Campers are divided into "bunks" according to their rising grade for the following school year. Bunks (usually 10-13 campers) are led by college students (Nursery School teachers for our PK program) and supported by teen staff from Temple Rodef Shalom and local high schools. Our ratios of 1 counselor for every 4 campers (1 to 3 for Preschool!) are unmatched in the DMV area.
Pools, water time, and swimming
Preschoolers enjoy safe water time onsite with squirt toys, sprinklers, baby pools, and slides.
Kindergarten through 3rd grade take a chartered school bus to a local pool twice a week for swim skills review and free-swim time.
For more information on our swim program, click on the link below:
1st through 5th grade take a field trip every Wednesday to local waterparks such as Water Mine, Great Waves at Cameron Run, Pirates Cove, Splashdown, and Volcano Island.
Pre K and Kindergarten stay on campus to host weekly in-house guests and enjoy special themed programming every Wednesday.
1st through 5th grade take chartered school buses to area waterparks every Wednesday!
6th and 7th grade take chartered coaches and buses for two field trips each week on Monday and Wednesday.
8th grade takes chartered coaches and buses for two field trips each week on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A TYPICAL DAY
Campers enrolled in Before Care are supervised by counselors who lead games and other activities in our social hall. Breakfast can be brought from home if you like.
Campers are greeted and helped out of cars by our leadership team and guided to their bunks by junior staff for informal games and socializing before the day starts.
We start the day together as one big camp family by celebrating birthdays, singing songs, and giving high fives to all our leadership team.
SPECIALTY 1, DRAMA
Campers play improv games and incorporate a colorful collection of costumes, props, and puppets.
SPECIALTY 2, ART
Our young artists create an array of artwork which may include clay, water colors, mosaics, and friendship bracelets.
A healthy snack is offered every morning. Check out our daily snack schedule! You may also choose to bring a snack from home.
SPECIALTY 3, SPORTS
Using our own campus as well as neighboring playing fields, we offer a variety of ways to run and play as a team.
Every day, we set aside time for bunk groups to spend time together, play games, or relax.
Lunch is brought from home Monday - Thursday. On Fridays, we provide a free pizza lunch. We eat together as a camp. **Lunches must be nut free and may not contain shellfish or pork products**
SPECIALTY 4, MUSIC
Sing songs, drum, and dance with our songleaders. Sometimes we parade through the building in song!
SPECIALTY 5, TZOFIM
Our Israeli staff play Israeli games with the campers and teach them about Israeli culture.
SPECIALTY 6, DANCE
We warm up, shake our sillies out, and learn some updated choreography together.
It's fun to climb the features of our playgrounds while collaborating with friends from other bunks.
We transition to carpool by singing our fun closing song and hearing what we can look forward to tomorrow!
Leadership team chaperone campers into their cars and wave them goodbye.
Dedicated Extended Day staff coordinate programs including crafts and sports for our Extended Day campers. A healthy snack is served daily. (For more information on our Extended Day Programming, please see our FAQs page.)
